From: Tel Aviv (via Haifa) » Broken Fingaz Crew Sightings!

One of our hands-down favorite crews bombing the walls of Tel Aviv is the Haifa-based Broken Fingaz Crew. The 10-year-strong foursome (Tant, Unga, Dezo, and Kip) have a hypnotizing and intricate style which recalls 1960’s psychedelic posters, old school American comics, and B-rated horror flick poster typography…

The Nonlife Zoo plushes

Well, it’s old news that we’re killing the planet and along with it, many of these adorable fuzzy creatures! Need some crappy stats to scare you into action? The Nonlife Zoo’s mission statement is chock full of them. How about this doozy: “more than one kind of species vanishes from earth daily”…

Lo's List /// Beijing Taxi TeeGet it! The Beijing Taxi tee!

Eeek – I can hardly contain my delight! It’s been an absolute madhouse of productivity here these past couple weeks & now all the goodies that were so diligently working on are coming to life! First up, this super soft gray tee with the Beijing Taxi logo that I designed as the film gears up for it’s SXSW premier on the 15th! Miao Wang, the writer / director / producer behind the story of three cabbies making the shift between pre- and post-Olympic Beijing, is such a pleasure to work with and if any of you readers are in Austin between the 15th and 19th of March, be sure to finagle your way into one of the three screenings…

Lo's List /// Robert Siegel Yellow Polka Dot Bowl on Etsy Robert Siegel Yellow Polka Dot Bowl

Totally in love with these stippled porcelain wares from Robert Siegel’s Etsy store! The small selection of hand-thrown and hand-painted polka-dotted vases, mugs, plates, and bowls are a downright bargain and a great addition to any spirited kitchen. After a year-long residency at the Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute in Jingdezhen, China, the ceramicist moved back to Philadelphia where he set up his studio and…

Big Screen » Q&A with Beijing Taxi’s Miao Wang

YZ and I have been busy working on the title sequences for Beijing Taxi, a documentary by Miao Wang’s 3 Waters Productions which will be world premiering at this year’s SXSW festival in the Documentary Features category. The film is stunning – telling the stories of three Beijing taxi drivers as they face the tremendous changes of the pre-Olympics city. Miao, the film’s director and producer, took the time to answer some of our questions about the film and what it takes to drive a cab in the Chinese capital.

Just stumbled upon this jaw-droppingly accurate pixel map of Hong Kong! It functions much in the same way as Google satellite maps but so much more fun to explore! Get directions from landmarks, measure distances between home and your favorite hang-outs, add your own tags, print it out and you’re good to go. Not sure who created this mega-map but, tip of the hat!

Perk Pioneers

Shanghai-based design duo PERK stirred up quite the buzz with their rather alien-esque Pioneer figurine collection. So perfectly executed are these characters that they were selected by London’s Victoria Albert Museum to be part of their Chinese Design Now Exhibition. It seems that there are 25 different Pioneers to collect, but this is a blind box series so pick your package wisely! Can’t be bothered with the element of surprise? You can get the entire collection in one fell swoop at Poketo’s website.

Kawaii! » Lucky Little 福禄寿

Bright Ideas Design

This adorably f*cked up toy from Taiwan-based company Bright Ideas Design is pieced together using the features of three luck-endowing critters: a bat, a deer and a crane. The 14cm tall Fuluso, so named after the three incarnations of the Chinese Taoist blessing “寿 or Fu Lu So”, meaning happiness, honor, and longevity, is available in color or black & white right here! Put this discombobulated little toy in your pocket and get lucky!
