End of August or not – these past few days in Tel Aviv have felt like the doggiest days of summer yet. I know autumn is around the corner but 45ºC? Really? What to do when nothing you own is cool enough but you don’t want to blow all your hard earned cash on what should be your fall/winter wardrobe? Um… multitask of course!
WHOO HOOO! What a game! Although Brazil were tipped to beat the Flying Dutchmen today during the first of the 2010 World Cup quarter finals, there was no stopping this level-headed gang from the Países Bajos (yep, we’ve only got Univision here at home) as the Dutch kept control of the ball and their tempers…
My voice is hoarse from a week and a half now of hooting and hollering at the television screen, I wish more than anything that my beloved French were still dancing the the ball across the pitch and into the net as was the norm in their heyday (I think I might be going with my Dutch roots for this round of World Cupping), and I feel a wee bit of childish glee when those vuvuzela drown out all other sounds from the South African stadiums. Yep. It’s here. I have it. The FIFA fever!!
So, quick disclaimer – back in high school, when our whole gang would head up the mountain for a snowboarding weekend, I was the geek that came along and actually didn’t do a bit of the boarding part of the weekend. I would go romping through the snow, for sure, and have a nice meal ready for my friends when they got back from their day on the slopes, but, I just wasn’t really the snowboarding type.
